This International Women’s Day, aligned with the 2026 theme “Give to Gain,” we understand that empowering women in leadership strengthens the firm as a whole.
Our legacy as a firm has always been shaped by exceptional women from time immemorial. The late Janet Shava becoming one of the first ever female partner in 1994 passing the partnership baton to Mary Welsh and Nellie Tiyago who became the firm’s third female partner in 2008 buoyed by the current resilient female partners i.e. the Labour and Commercial Litigation Maven, Rudo Magundani, the Corporate Commercial Architect, Riana Moss and the formidable Family Law Expert Pretty Murove.
These extraordinary female partners are supported by a wealthy league of Associates namely Tanaka Kachara, Kudzai Msipa Mbalenhle Mwase, Panashe Mujegu, Olivia Chisvo, Florence Sithole and Tanyaradzwa Gwenhure who have carried the legacy forward, contributing to the firm’s growth and excellence.
2026 commenced with a defining milestone in the firm’s 130-year history when Nellie Tiyago assumed the role of becoming the Firm’s First Female Chairperson, reflecting both her distinction and the firm’s confidence in women at the highest levels.
As we mark International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women who have shaped our past and continue to lead our future.
