Every Zimbabwean citizen has a constitutional right
to return home — whatever the circumstances of their
departure from another jurisdiction.

Section 35(3) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe entitles
every citizen "to enter and to leave Zimbabwe and to
move freely within Zimbabwe."

Citizens facing voluntary departure from a foreign
jurisdiction need legal architecture for the return:
✔ Confirmation of citizenship and ID documentation
✔ Repatriation of assets and personal effects
✔ Re-establishment of legal residence
✔ Family law matters where children are involved
✔ Re-registration of foreign-acquired qualifications

Wednesday 20 May 2026.

a constitutional right to the protection of the
Government of Zimbabwe.

Section 35(3)(a) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe
entitles every citizen, by birth, descent or
registration, to "the protection and benefit of the
Government of Zimbabwe wherever they may be."

This right matters most when it is most needed.

✔ Document everything in writing
✔ Preserve identification and travel documents
✔ Know that consular access is your treaty right
