Dube, Manikai & Hwacha Achieves Top Rankings in Chambers Global 2026

Dube, Manikai & Hwacha (DMH) is proud to announce its continued recognition as a Band 1 firm in General Business Law – Zimbabwe in the Chambers and Partners Global Guide 2026.

The firm remains the only indigenous Zimbabwean law firm ranked in Band 1 for General Business Law, reaffirming its position as a market leader in corporate, commercial, banking, finance, tax, energy, employment, and dispute resolution matters.

In addition to the firm’s top-tier ranking, four of DMH’s partners have been individually recognised as follows:

Edwin I Manikai – Band 1
Canaan F Dube – Band 2
Selby V Hwacha – Band 2
Rumbidzai Matambo – Band 4

Our three named partners have maintained their individual rankings, and we are delighted to celebrate our Managing Partner, Mrs Rumbidzai Matambo’s individual ranking for the first time in the Chambers Global Guide. Her ranking reflects her growing reputation in conveyancing and securitization, complex commercial matters, and high-profile dispute resolution work. This achievement underscores DMH’s commitment to excellence and the continued development of outstanding legal talent within the firm.

These rankings are a testament to the trust our clients place in us and to the dedication of our entire team. We extend our sincere gratitude to our clients and peers for their continued support and confidence.

DMH remains committed to delivering exceptional legal services at the highest international standards.

On the 21st of November, our team had the pleasure of attending the Sapphire Soirée, beautifully hosted by the Quality Corporate Governance Centre (QCGC) at the Hyatt Regency Harare. We are especially proud that our Senior Partner, Mr CF Dube, leads the QCGC team, and we remain inspired by his unwavering dedication to strengthening corporate governance in Zimbabwe. His leadership continues to set the tone for excellence within our firm and beyond.
The evening also provided an exceptional networking opportunity; connecting with fellow professionals, sharing experiences, and forging relationships that enhance collaboration within our industry. We are truly grateful for the rich insights and knowledge shared throughout the event. The sessions offered valuable perspectives on corporate governance excellence, and we left inspired to integrate these learnings into our work.
A special thank you to QCGC for organising such a stellar and well-curated event. Your commitment to advancing governance standards continues to uplift and empower the professional community. We look forward to future engagements and to continuing the journey of learning, growth, and good governance.

It is with immense sadness and a deep sense of personal loss that Dube, Manikai & Hwacha mourns the sudden passing of Mr. Zvobgo Tawanda Zvobgo, who left us on 8 December 2025 at the age of 37.

Tawanda was not only a remarkable legal practitioner but also a cherished member of our DMH family. Having graduated with an LLB (Hons) from Midlands State University in 2012 and registering the same year as a Legal Practitioner, Notary Public and Conveyancer, he joined our firm at the very beginning of his professional journey. We watched him grow, quietly determined, intellectually gifted, and guided by an admirable sense of purpose.

During his years at DMH, Tawanda left an indelible mark. He approached every matter with meticulous care and carried himself with humility that belied his exceptional talent. His warmth, empathy, and integrity elevated not only his work, but the spirit of our firm. Many of us knew him not just as a colleague, but as a friend, a brother, and a source of encouragement.

In 2020, Tawanda pursued a new chapter, helping to establish Chingoma Zvobgo Attorneys, before eventually founding Zvobgo Attorneys in 2022. His legacy, though tragically brief, is defined by courage, excellence, and a commitment to justice that inspired all who had the privilege of working with him.

The Partners, Associates and Staff of DMH extend our heartfelt condolences to the Zvobgo family, his friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his life. We share in your pain, and we honour his memory with profound gratitude for the time he spent with us.

May His Dear Soul Rest in Eternal Peace

The DMH Team extends its heartfelt appreciation to Advocate Tshuma for serving as the guest speaker at our recent Continuous Legal Training session.

His engaging and insightful presentation on taxation law and statutory interpretation offered our team valuable perspectives on both the practical and conceptual dimensions of these complex areas of law.

The session centred on computation of income tax and tax administration, particularly on deduction of interest expense in the determination of taxable income in terms of section 16(1)(o) of the Income Tax Act.

We also acknowledge Mr. Manikai, the Partner leading our Continuous Legal Training programme, for his continued leadership in promoting professional growth within the firm, and Ms. Makanga, our tax expert, for her invaluable input in facilitating and enriching the discussion.

The session was both intellectually stimulating and professionally rewarding, strengthening our team’s capacity to apply sound legal reasoning and interpretative skills in practice.

Celebrating excellence and leadership!

In the picture: Mr. Edwin Manikai — Named Partner at Dube, Manikai & Hwacha; Mr. Trynos Kufazvinei — FBC Group Chief Executive; Dr. John Mushayavanhu — Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe; and Dr. George Elombi — Afreximbank Board Chair and President — gathered to celebrate a momentous occasion: the swearing-in of Dr. George Elombi as the fourth President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank.

A Cameroonian national and seasoned executive, Dr. Elombi has been part of Afreximbank since 1996, rising through dedication and vision to become Executive Vice President for Governance, Legal and Corporate Services. He now succeeds Prof. Benedict Oramah, who has led the Bank with distinction since 2015.

With nearly three decades of service, Dr. Elombi brings unparalleled experience and a deep commitment to Afreximbank’s mission having helped shape its governance frameworks, expand its capital base, and steer its crisis response across Africa and the Caribbean.

Team DMH is especially proud of Dr. Elombi's success, having worked with him closely from the days when he led the Bank's Legal Department and can give testament to his commitment and capabilities. Congratulations, Dr. Elombi, on this well-deserved appointment and new chapter of leadership!

Congratulations to Dr. George Elombi on being appointed the 4th President & Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank!

After nearly 30 years of distinguished service - rising from Legal Officer to Executive Vice President - he now takes the helm of the Bank. Under his leadership, Afreximbank mobilised over USD$2 billion for COVID-19 vaccines and secured USD$3.6 billion in equity. His powerful vision - to industrialise Africa and restore the dignity of Africans everywhere - is exactly what our continent needs. We are proud to work alongside Afreximbank and look forward to supporting and witnessing the remarkable achievements that will unfold under Dr. Elombi’s leadership.
