PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN GLOBAL HEALTH COURSE

INTRODUCTION
The Zimbabwe Institute of HIV and AIDS Trust has been accepted as site to offer a course in Project Management in Global Health from the Department of Global Health eLearning Program at the University of Washington, USA. The Institute applied to offer the course because of the huge demand of project management skills in the health sector in the country. This is an internationally recognised certificate in project management.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have a post-secondary school qualification i.e. a certificate, diploma, degree or even higher

APPLICATION
Applications will opened between the 11th of April 2024 and closes on the 14th of May 2024. The application for the course is online and has two steps

Step 1 - Creating an account
To create the account click on the following link

https://edgh.washington.edu/user

Then click Create an account

If you have applied and done a course before you don't have to create a new account but use your previous account

Step 2 – Applying for the course

To start the application process, click on the following link, select the course and complete the required information.

https://edgh.washington.edu/courses/project-management

Click “Apply as an applicant”, and in the process select site-based learning and pick the Zimbabwe Institute of HIV & AIDS as your site.
The online application process is compulsory and failure to do so means that you cannot study the course.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
The course is highly technical and most of the work and assignments are done online. Based on that basic understanding of computers, access to good internet and a computer is a must. Submission of assignments is online and the deadlines can be strict i.e. weekly. ZIHAT has no control over the deadlines since these will be managed by the University of Washington. Before deciding to join the course, make sure you have the commitment.

COURSE DATES AND MODE OF LEARNING
The course is for 3 months (24 June 2024 to 01 September 2024). The course has around 10 modules and the format is roughly one module per week. Learning is mainly self-paced by studying online materials provided by the University of Washington. On top of that the University of Washington requires us to organise a weekly meeting to recap the week's work together with, discussing/feedback on assignments/individual tasks. The modalities of the weekly meeting will be discussed and agreed upon in terms of format online/face-to-face and timing (weekends or weekdays).

COURSE FEES
The institute can access the system to see who has applied. Those who will have applied will be advised on when to start paying the course fees. As you apply in the system you will see that as a site, there is a need to be in groups of maximum of 50 participants and there is a fee stipulated for such a group. On top of the fees stipulated per group by the University of Washington, other costs will include administration, teaching and printing of study. Usually, the site-based approach is mainly for discussions without any formal teaching but we anticipate that quite a number of the applicants will need formal teaching, extra help and time for them to understand the technical aspects of the course.
