Ethel Inonge Banda is an experienced and compassionate Lawyer with 16+ years of experience having been called to the Bar in July 2009. Ethel holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors from the University of Northampton; England. She joined the Legal Aid Board in December 2011. Well-versed in principles of criminal law, family law and civil litigation; specializing in high-stakes employment related matters, land disputes, marital and children’s disputes and dispute resolution. With proven track record of successfully representing clients in court, developing legal strategies and drafting and negotiating contracts. Ethel has a proven track record of securing favorable outcomes in court, including managing complex trials and depositions. Her advocacy skills especially in criminal trials ranks up top with some of the best in the Country. She is a firm believer in giving every client who walks through the office regardless of their gender, social standing 150% effort in her representation.
She is skilled in legal research, strategic planning, and mentoring junior lawyers to deliver exceptional client service. Known for a strong commitment to justice, fairness and integrity in the courtroom.
Ethel is also a Commissioner/Adjudicator in the Small Claims Court having been appointed over 8 years ago. There she is known as a compassionate jurist; who tries to be empathetic and render an unbiased judgment that is accepted by all those who appear before her Court. This resolve for fairness has resulted in a good track record of receiving only 2 of her cases reviewed from 2016 to date. Board member for In But Free (IBF); Non-Governmental Organization concerned with the welfare of inmates. IBF promotes health interventions, sustainable livelihoods and advocacy for vulnerable populations in Zambian congregate settings.
