Position: Fleet Manager
Reports To: General Manager

Oval Mining Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee and coordinate all aspects of our company’s vehicle fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient utilization, maintenance, safety, and compliance of the fleet while supporting drivers and logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee fleet management and operations, including scheduling, maintenance, and vehicle usage tracking.

Coordinate vehicle assignments to drivers and departments for optimal efficiency.

Ensure compliance with company procedures, road safety regulations, and vehicle documentation.

Schedule and supervise regular vehicle maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report issues or damages.

Maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards across all fleet operations.

Manage driver schedules, assignments, and performance.

Support delivery and logistics activities to ensure smooth operational flow.

Keep accurate fleet records, including fuel consumption, maintenance logs, and usage reports.

Protect company property and confidential information.

Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Qualifications & Requirements

Diploma or Degree in Transport & Logistics or Supply Chain Management.

3–5 years of relevant experience in fleet management or logistics operations.

Membership with CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport) is mandatory.

A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

High attention to detail and commitment to safety and efficiency.

OVAL MINING SUPPORTS KANAKANTAPA POLICE POSTS VISIBILITY WITH BILLBOARD DONATION

In a community where police visibility and access to public safety information have long been limited, Oval Mining has stepped in to support efforts to strengthen law and order in Kanakantapa by donating two billboards to the Kanakantapa Police Post.

The new billboards were installed along the Kanakantapa Road. The initiative is part of Oval Mining’s broader commitment to social impact in its license areas, where the company works closely with local communities and institutions to promote safety, development, and trust.

According to Mr Mulenga the officer-in-charge, one of the challenges the police noticed was that residents didn’t know where to go when they needed urgent help regarding violence, theft, or abuse. “Before, people would walk right past the post and not even know it was there. Now, when they see the billboards, they are reminded that this is a place they can come when they need to talk, report, or seek help.”

The messaging on the billboards was developed in collaboration with the police and community leaders, focusing on clear visuals to ensure accessibility to all audiences. The billboards also display the police badge for quicker recognition.

Since the billboards went up, the Kanakantapa Police Post is recording a noticeable increase in walk-in reports and community inquiries. Officers say they have also received positive feedback from local church leaders and community members who feel the police post is now more visible.

At Oval Mining, we believe that true impact starts with empowering communities. Our donation of two billboards to the Kanakantapa Police Post is already making a difference, raising awareness and improving police visibility.

My name is Tolayi Sikumba.
I am a Mining Consultant and Legal Practitioner by profession but at heart I am a patriotic Zambian with a love for nature our local folklore.

I come from a long line of pioneering women with my grandmother being the first girl to make it to Chipembi Girls Secondary School in 1957, hailing from the humble villages in the highlands of Monze and my mother was the first female radio Disk Jocky (DJ) with Radio Phoenix and 5Fm where she took the air-waves by storm with her charismatic sound going by her famous name 'The Black Mama Jamma'.

In the course of doing business in the mining and tourism sectors as well as being a minister of the law as a legal practitioner, I have had the great privilege of traveling into Zambia and interacting with the most fascinating people and bearing witness to Zambia’s beauty.

In all the wonder and splendor of the Zambian people and its breath taking landscapes I have unfortunately witnessed glaring inequalities and injustices that plague the communities of rural and peri urban Zambia. Being a advocate for change and a strong believer in affirmative action I decided to found a non-profit organization called The Bushbaby Foundation through which justice and capacity building would be made available to ensure human transformation for a better Zambia.

The Bushbaby Foundation through Cooperlemon Consultancy Limited, our co-founding partner and its network of collaborating partners in the mining and tourism sectors seek to empower the communities in which they operate to ensure lasting change through capacity building and basic legal rights education.
