📝Cybercrimes Act No. 19 of 2020

What does this mean for our Cyber Community? ☢️

👤Anyone carrying out any of the following will be guilty of an offense:

➡️Threatening a person/group of people or a persons property by means of electronic communication;
➡️Intentionally disclosing an intimate image of a person/persons without consent;
➡️Unlawful use or possession of a hardware/software tool;
➡️Unlawful acquisition, possession, provision, receipt or use of a persons password, access code or similar data for purposes of contravening certain sections of the Act;
➡️Cyber forgery or uttering whereby a person defrauds by making up false data or a false computer program which causes actual or potential prejudice to another person;
➡️Any person who discloses, by means of an electronic communications service, a data message to a person, group of persons or the general public with the intention to incite damage to property or violence against
a person or a group of persons.

📲The Act further obligates electronic communications service providers to report any offenses without delay, not later than 72 hours after becoming aware of the offense.

⁉️Any person or electronic communications service provider that is convicted of an offence referred in the Act may be liable to a fine 💰or imprisonment or to both a fine and imprisonment.
