Hi Legal Queens!

Meet our beautiful fellow queen, Pulane Lebeko. An admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa, practicing in Bloemfontein, Free-State. 🇿🇦

This is her inspiring journey🔻

"I graduated in with an LLB degree in 2018 and started my articles of clerkship two months before my graduation. During articles I also completed a six months PLT structured coursework program and Board Exams. I was admitted as an attorney in February 2020.

I resonate with the saying, "It is good to have an end journey toward; but it is the journey that matters in the end."

The discipline, courage and tenacity it takes to pursue a legal career, I found in the journey. So, with this said, my legal journey might never end as I continue to grow in the profession."

Greetings Legal Divas!👸🏾⚖

It's my pleasure to introduce to you one of our divas, Ms Shenay Bhodraj from KZN, SA🇿🇦

I've had the pleasure of working with Ms Bhodraj in our law firm simulation during practical legal training in KZN and what an abolute joy! A team player, goal achiever, very solution orientated and no doubt an excellent attorney⚖

Let's journey with her🔻

_"I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Law from the University of the Free State 3 years ago. I was then admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa after completing 6 months of Practical Legal Training and passing 4 board exams. Further to this, I recently completed a course in Labour law from the University of Cape Town in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

I had no idea that my legal journey would be so demanding, yet so rewarding. Law isn't just a profession. It becomes a part of who you are and what you represent. Law changes your perception about the world and people, it constantly challenges you and pushes you to be the strongest version of yourself.

My advice to young legal professionals out there is to never stop learning in every aspect of your life. Never stay stagnant, keep growing! Laws will always develop and so will you."

Hello the LJ family!!! You have been missed!

It's great to be back feeling awesome and ready to roll this ball after some much needed rest.

Sometimes life can feel a bit overwhelming and throw us a little out of balance. When this happens it's always helpful to pause and give ourselves permission to just be still and breathe ourselves back to alignment🧘🏾‍♀️🙏🏽

Hi the LJ Family!🙋🏽‍♀️
Meet the stunning Ms Marlene Brits from South Africa🇿🇦
This is her story✍
"I grew up in a small mining village in the Westrand. After school I studied to become a nail technician and other additional beauty courses. I soon realised that it was not for me. I always wanted a degree. I then moved to Pretoria, Gauteng in 2012 to work as a Deeds Office Assistant. Shortly after, I enrolled at UNISA to study the LLB on a self paid study loan.
I soon realised that part time studying whilst working full time was not easy. When others would unwind after a day's work, I would get home and start with assignments and studying for exams. On weekends, when others would be relaxing or partying, I would be with my books. Needless to say my personal relationships took a heavy strain because of this. Anytime spent on anything else, including family events, would take away time from studying so I was always in a rush.
While in university I faced many personal battles such as my father having a debilitating stroke. This was a really difficult time. Life happens while one is just trying to get through a semester.
I commenced my articles whilst studying before the legislation changed to the now LPA and wrote some of my attorneys admission examinations (Boards) during my UNISA semesters. I thought I would go mad with breathing and eating law! Upon writing my last board exam, the question paper was leaked. It felt like I was facing too many battles but even though there were times I was just fed up, I always managed to find strength again to march on.
When I passed my last board exam, I applied for an admission date.Shortly after that, the LPA came into effect and due to some sections being ambiguous, admissions were on hold for 2 months. When my admission date arrived, I was told to show up at Court and to my amazement, I was admitted as an attorney that day being one of the first 10 to be admitted under the LPA. It was a great day!
My advice to law graduates is to NEVER GIVE UP despite the curve balls life throws at you."

Hi the LJ Family!🙋🏽‍♀️
Meet the stunning Ms Jasmine T Umana from the USA🇺🇸
This is her journey✍⚖
At a very young age I had dreams of becoming an attorney so I set out early in life to gain as much experience as possible. I have extensive background in entertainment having worked for Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), one of the biggest sports and entertainment companies in the world.
Before law school, I spent time working in the Law Offices of Heather Beverly where I assisted with some of the most respected music moguls in entertainment and learned the ins and outs of the music business.
Today, I own my own law firm where I represent a variety of clients. I license music to major corporations such as Apple, ABC, NBC, Target, and Macy’s and I appear in court regularly. I enjoy being an advocate for people and bridging the gap that often exists between clients and attorneys.
Knowing what I wanted to do early in life helped me tremendously and my advice to anyone with a dream would be “start early” and go get WHATEVER you want. Be fearless, relentless, and unapologetic about it.
I am a first generation college grad, and the first attorney in my family. I am only 27 years old. I grew up in a home with domestic violence and although I am grateful for the relationship I have with my biological father today, for a large portion of my life my biological father was an addict and not involved.
I have truly overcome adversity and believe if I can do it, so can you. Don’t you ever quit!
