ONTHOU JY SKONS UIT HUISHOUDKUNDE?

Ons gesprek het my laat terugdink aan resepte wat ek kan onthou ons op skool geleer het. Skons was ook een van dié wat telkens in julle kommentaar opgeduik het. Hier is my karringmelkweergawe.

Dis amper asof ’n mens weer in die klas staan: die mengbak voor jou, meel aan jou vingers en die juffrou wat sou sê: “Net jou vingerpunte, ons wil nie die botter warm maak nie!”

Vryf die koue botter liggies by die meel in. Wanneer die karringmelk bykom, meng jy net totdat die deeg bymekaarkom. Dit moet sag wees, nie droog en styf nie. Gebruik net genoeg meel op die werkoppervlak om te keer dat dit vassit. Geen geknie soos brooddeeg nie! Druk die skons reguit uit sonder om die drukker te draai, en bestryk net die bokante sodat die melk nie teen die kante afloop nie.
