Poetoria, derived from the words “Poet” and “Pretoria”, is an artist management and development agency committed to a vigorous presence for poetry in our city. It exists to discover and celebrate the most ethnic and original works of art in the form of word and sound, and to build an appreciation of such art in the city of Pretoria. o an inner reality—a reality that is sensed primarily through the heart, although its origin isn’t of the heart. Poetry tries to render things that aren't easy to express in words. It does this by making use of attributes of language which aren’t commonly seen to instill deep thought and contemplation. In a sense, poetry uses words as doors to many possibilities. It carries our imaginations or stirs new dreams. Mainly, it extends the power of words to communicate. Poetry is at the core of all expressive art. All musicians, all actors, must master the art of rhyme and recital to become experts in their trade. In developing young and upcoming poets, we are working towards improving education levels and instilling the love of reading and writing in the young crowd. OUR CRAFT
The arts industry is subsidized by the labour of artists. Artists are the people who are willing to put up with a job that doesn’t pay the bills; they do this all for the joy of making art. These efforts in effect subsidize every other industry in the city by making it a more interesting and desirable place to visit and live, we have made it our business to bring artists together, to create and negotiate platforms where they can work and improve their skill.
