WHAT IT TAKES TO START YOUR LAW FIRM, ACCORDING TO A 27-YEAR- OLD YOUNG MAN WHO DID IT
MOHLATLARENG-Many law graduates are being told that in todayโs tight job market, beggars canโt be choosers. But when Tshegofatso Makgopa graduated with no job prospects, he decided he wasnโt going to beg for anything.
The economic downturn has prompted more graduates like Makgopa to open their law firms rather than take the corporate attorney route.
Born at Mohlatlareng Village in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, the 27-year-old attorney earned a degree from the University of Venda in 2017 and his goal was to establish his law firm.
After acquiring vast experience in the area of practice at S.T Madisa Attorneys as a candidate attorney and professional assistant, he established his practice in 2020.
This was motivated by how people in rural areas struggle to access legal services and how people, especially personal injury clients were robbed of their payout from the Road Accident Fund as well as other institutions,
by attorneys due to their lack of knowledge.
His Areas of specialisation are Personal injury Law, Professional negligence litigation, Unlawful arrest and detention, RAF claims, Contract law (Advising, Drafting, Review, Debt collection, Divorce, Family law, General litigation (both High Court and Magistrates Court), and Administration of deceased estates.
