HDRS Attorneys Inc. formally known as Hutchinson, du Plessis, Robin & Stoloff has its roots firmly founded in Plettenberg Bay since inception during the 1930's.

Currently directed by Francois du Plessis and Newton van der Mescht. Our firm participates in the following fields of law: conveyancing, civil litigation & litigation with emphasis on land use, administration of deceased estates & estate planning, appraisers, labour law, drafting of a vast range of contracts, drafting by-laws & management agreements. Francois du Plessis:
Grad

uated from UJ University in 1987 with a B Proc and LLB degrees. In 1991 he was admitted as an attorney of the High Court, prior experience included acting as a clerk of the civil court, public prosecution & Magistrate in the Randburg Magistrates Court. In 1992 Francois moved to Plettenberg Bay and joined HDRS as a partner. Francois currently practices administration of estates & estate planning, civil litigation and family law. Newton van der Mescht:
Graduated from Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education in 1983 with a B Proc degree and graduated from University of South Africa in 1992 with a degree in LLB. In 1993 Newton was admitted as an attorney of the High Court, prior experience included rising through the ranks in the SAPS, Senior Legal Official in the post of Head of the South African Police Legal Services Component Research and International Law Pretoria. In 2006 Newton moved to Plettenberg Bay and joined HDRS. Newton currently practices town planning, environmental law, litigation, commercial law, property law and drafting of by-laws. Shaylee-Maree Westhead:
Graduated from NMMU (formerly University of Port Elizabeth) in 2010 with a LLB. During 2017 Shaylee was admitted as an attorney of the High Court. Shaylee joined HDRS in 2015 where she completed her articles. Currently Shaylee assists both directors with their workload and is therefore involved in all of the fields of law currently on offer at the firm, in addition to this Shaylee assists various Home Owner Associations with Debt Collecting. Christelle du Plessis:
Graduated from UJ University in 1985 with a B Proc and LLB degrees. In 1990 she was admitted as an attorney of the High Court. During her time at university Christelle lectured undergraduates in Legal Aid, Law of Evidence and Staatsreg. Christelle relocated to Plettenberg Bay in 1992. Christelle has experience with criminal and civil litigation, commercial law, estate planning, family law, drafting various agreements. Christelle currently administers all deceased estates at the firm.

The court sentenced the child’s mother and grandmother to 30 days’ direct imprisonment, suspended pending their strict compliance with the high court order which regulates the father’s contact with his daughter.

Angel Zanele Njoko:

Graduated from University of Free State in May 2018 and contracted for articles of clerkship commencing August 2018 with HDRS. Zanele is an activist with the R**e Survivors Justice Campaign. Zanele aspires to be admitted as an attorney of the High Court by the end of 2020. Zanele’s interests are in criminal law, family law, property law, public law and deceased estates.
