The Supreme Court of Appeal recently confirmed an important principle:

Interim maintenance orders granted under Rule 43 are generally not appealable.

Rule 43 exists to provide quick, temporary financial relief during divorce proceedings while the matter is still ongoing.

The Court highlighted that:

✔️ Interim orders are temporary, not final decisions
✔️ They can be reconsidered if circumstances change
✔️ Allowing appeals would create delays, increase costs, and prolong disputes
✔️ Concerns about unfairness should usually be addressed through a variation application or during the divorce trial itself

This judgment reinforces the purpose of Rule 43: to provide urgent support efficiently while avoiding unnecessary delays in family law matters.

📵 NEW LAW UPDATE: SAY GOODBYE TO SPAM CALLS

From 15 April 2026, new amendments to the Consumer Protection Act Regulations are officially in force — and they change the game for both consumers and businesses.

👤 What this means for YOU (Consumers):

✔️ You can now register a “pre-emptive block” on the National Consumer Commission (NCC) registry
✔️ Once registered, ALL direct marketers must stop contacting you
✔️ No more endless unsubscribing — one action covers everything

💼 What this means for BUSINESSES:

⚠️ Mandatory registration with the NCC before contacting consumers
⚠️ Databases must be updated every 30 days (“monthly cleansing”)
⚠️ You may NOT contact consumers who have blocked marketing — even for first-time consent

⚖️ Why this matters:

This is a major shift from a fragmented system to one that protects consumers and holds businesses accountable.
