We had the pleasure of having a law student spend a few days with us at the firm.

It is absolutely refreshing to see a young person so enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn and, likewise, such a joy to be able to share some of what we have learned along the way.

Because if there is one thing this profession teaches you, it is that you never stop learning.

The day you think you know it all is probably the day you start failing as a lawyer.

May we always remain willing to learn, willing to teach, and humble enough to know that there is always more to know. ⚖️

Today we honour the strength of women.

That strength takes many forms.

It is found in the women who have challenged boundaries, built businesses, raised families, led professions, started over and found strength in circumstances they never imagined they would face.

But strength is not measured only by what a woman achieves.

As attorneys, we have the privilege of walking alongside women through many different seasons of life. We see their courage in boardrooms and courtrooms, in businesses and in their homes.

We see women navigating divorce, fighting to protect their children and families, rebuilding after relationships have ended, standing up against abuse and injustice, and finding extraordinary strength when circumstances require them to fight for what matters most.

Some of these battles are fought publicly. Many are fought quietly, behind closed doors.

Women’s Day is therefore not only a celebration. It is also a reminder of how far we have come, how far we still have to go, and of our responsibility to stand up for the dignity, equality and protection of women.

May you be heard, be respected and be safe.
And when life requires you to fight, may you never forget the strength of the woman within you.

Let us continue to support one another, advocate for one another and raise a generation of women who know their worth and know their rights.

Happy Birthday to our Nici!

Today we celebrate someone who wears many hats at S Stander & Associates, and wears each one exceptionally well.

Many of our clients regularly mistake us for one another because, but after all we are sisters and we look alike! Kind of!

It has become a little running joke … Whenever clients mistake us for one another, we put them on the spot and ask them to guess who the younger sister is. The responses are always priceless…😄

As our favourite conveyancing paralegal, Nici has taken our conveyancing department to another level. Her friendly nature, compassionate approach, willingness to help and genuine love for people make every client feel welcome and every colleague feel supported. She has an incredible ability to get the work done, no matter what is placed in front of her.

Of course, there is another very important role she fulfils… our self-appointed (and highly effective) Minister of Finance! She keeps a watchful eye on the numbers, keeps us all accountable and makes sure we stay on our toes.

On a more personal note, I am incredibly grateful to call Nici not only my colleague but also my sister. Building this firm alongside family has been one of life’s greatest blessings, and her loyalty, hard work and unwavering support have played a significant part in our journey and in the success of our firm.

Nici, may this year bring you every happiness, good health, exciting opportunities and countless reasons to smile. Thank you for being such an important part of our team and for everything you do for our clients, our firm and our family.

Today we celebrate Rashna, our fellow attorney and someone who has been part of our journey from even before S Stander & Associates came to be.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of watching you grow into the confident and brilliant attorney you are today. Your integrity, strong moral compass and commitment to doing things properly are qualities I admire and value immensely.

One of the greatest comforts in a busy practice is having someone alongside you whom you can trust. When I ask you to take care of something, I know it will be done and done well. That kind of reliability is invaluable, and I am very grateful to have it in you.

Somewhere along the way, we have also perfected our own “good cop, bad cop” routine … although I’m fairly certain we have different views on who is who! Somehow, between the two of us, we always manage to strike the right balance.

You also hold another position of great responsibility: custodian of my sweet jar. 🍬 Since I am apparently not permitted to keep custody of my own sweets, they live in your office, which means I regularly appear at your door to claim my supervised allocation.

Rash, thank you for the hard work, the support, the laughs, the debates and, importantly, the sweets. It is a pleasure having you alongside me and a privilege having you as part of our team.

Happy Birthday! May the year ahead bring you much happiness, success, love and everything your heart desires.

Happy Birthday to the woman who has been by my side through it all for the past 9 years.

You have been my right hand, my gatekeeper, my sounding board, my voice of reason, and more often than not, the person who keeps this office running while I am running in ten different directions.

Thank you for always having my back, for keeping me on my toes when I need it, for keeping me sane when the pressure is relentless, and for reminding me that no challenge is too big when we tackle it together.

You’ve celebrated the victories with me, carried the weight during the difficult days, and stood loyal through every season. Your dedication, work ethic, honesty and unwavering support have played a huge part in building what S Stander & Associates is today.

May this next year bring you every happiness, abundant blessings, good health, laughter, and every success you deserve. Thank you for nine incredible years, and here’s to many more.
