Who qualifies as a Domestic Worker?

The Sectoral Determination gives a definition of the term domestic worker: "A domestic worker includes anyone who performs domestic work in a private household in return for remuneration and includes the following:
someone who provides cleaning services; a gardener; and/or
someone who takes care of children, the elderly, or the sick, frail and disabled."

Domestic Workers are formal employees, bringing them in line with national regulations around the UIF and Compensation Fund—and all the admin that comes with it!

Dad's are now entitled to equal parental leave!

ConCourt unanimously confirms constitutional invalidity against sections which deal with maternity and paternity leave under the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.

Both parents, regardless of gender, s*x, colour or circumstances, will now be entitled to equal parental leave that they can share amongst themselves (4 months, 10 days).
