Job Title: JNR FINANCIAL & PAYROLL OFFICER

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurate Junior Financial & Payroll Officer to join a well-established agricultural business operating two farms in the Western Cape.

Based between Greyton and Villiersdorp, this role is responsible for providing efficient payroll and financial administrative support, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with all relevant statutory and company requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12) — essential.
• Diploma in Payroll Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or Accounting — advantageous.
• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant payroll and financial administration experience.
• Proven experience with full end-to-end payroll processing.
• Prior exposure to HR administration in a combined role is advantageous.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in payroll software: Sage 300 People, Pastel Payroll, or Pay Space.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite.
• Good understanding of statutory requirements including PAYE, UIF, SDL, and tax legislation.
• Working knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks or NetSuite-advantageous.
• High attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy, and analytical ability.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills — verbal and written.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Resilience and tenacity in managing high-volume payroll environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll & HR Processing

• Prepare wages (bi-weekly) using company-approved payroll software (e.g. Farm Trace, Sage 300 People or PayWorks).
• Ensure all wage journals are approved by the Financial Manager prior to posting.
• Capture all wage data and ensure processing is completed in time for bi-weekly payment releases.
• Process statutory deductions including PAYE, UIF, and SDL in line with SARS requirements.
• Load new employees onto the payroll system as appointed.
• Perform daily accurate capturing of annual leave, sick leave, IOD leave, and family responsibility leave.
• Coordinate, record, and maintain all work-related injury records and ensure timely statutory reporting.
• Keep employee master data records up to date and data correspond with online systems.
• Ensure all payroll software updates and backups are performed correctly and timeously.

Financial Administration

• Process work/purchase orders, supplier invoices, expense claims, and payroll.
• Maintain a digital record of all financial transactions, documents, and supplier information.
• Assist the financial management team with credit control processes, budget planning, and expense analysis.
• Compile financial data to prepare monthly wage reports and ensure client accounts are accurate and up to date.
• Coordinate daily financial tasks with the financial management team to optimise workflow.
• Any other financial and/or administrative tasks and duties that is given from time to time

Compliance & Reporting

• Keep abreast of company policies and tax legislation that may impact remuneration, and compile and submit periodic reports.
• Ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), and SARS regulations.
• Assist with UIF declarations and EMP201/EMP501 submissions to SARS.
• Support internal and external audits by providing accurate payroll and financial records.
• Maintain confidentiality of all employee payroll and financial data at all times.
• Assist with compliance audits (Global GAP/SIZA/Other)

Assistant Farm Manager - Franschhoek

Our client, a well-established and progressive farming operation in the Franschhoek area, is seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of its citrus, olive, and essential oil production.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient management of daily farming operations, supervising permanent and seasonal employees, and maintaining high production, quality, and compliance standards.

Crop Portfolio
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of approximately:

• 20 hectares of Lemons
• 12 hectares of Olives (Virgin Olive Production)
• 7 hectares of Rosemary
• 2 hectares of Lavender
• 0.5 hectares of Pomegranates

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all daily farming operations.
• Manage and lead a team of approximately 7 permanent employees and more than 60 seasonal workers during harvesting periods.
• Oversee pruning, planting, harvesting, fertilization, and crop spray programmes.
• Monitor irrigation systems and ensure effective water management.
• Monitor crop health, including pest and disease control.
• Supervise the maintenance of tractors, implements, and other farming equipment.
• Ensure all farming activities comply with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain compliance with GlobalG.A.P. standards and company operating procedures.
• Coordinate labour planning and workforce productivity throughout the production cycle.
• Monitor production targets, quality standards, and operational efficiency.
• Assist with budgeting, production planning, and operational reporting.
• Work closely with the General Manager to achieve production and business objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Tertiary Education in Agriculture will be advantageous.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Farm Management or Assistant Farm Management position.
• Experience in citrus, olives, vineyards, or similar crops will be advantageous.
• Strong people management and leadership skills.
• Sound knowledge of irrigation systems and crop production practices.
• Experience with fertilization and spray programmes.
• Good planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.
• Honest, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Remuneration

• Net Salary: R24,000 per month

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant post-matric qualification, preferably a Diploma or Degree in Agriculture
• 10-15 years' proven experience in apple and/or pear production

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient functioning of the depot, while leading staff, managing stock integrity, and upholding strict industry regulations and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day depot operations, including fuel loading, offloading, and dispatch
• Monitor and control fuel stock levels, reconciliations, and reporting
• Supervise depot staff, drivers, and operators
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
• Investigate and report incidents, spills, or variances
• Coordinate deliveries with transport and logistics teams
• Oversee maintenance of depot equipment, pumps, tanks, and infrastructure
• Manage documentation, operational reports, and compliance records
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and head office
• Implement and monitor security and loss-prevention measures

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in a depot, fuel, petroleum, or hazardous goods operations management role

• Proven staff supervision and leadership experience
• Experience with stock control, reconciliations, and reporting
• Computer literacy (Excel, email, reporting systems)
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work under pressure and take full accountability
