πΌ Conveyancing Series β Part 3: Step 2 β Appointment of a Conveyancer
Once the Offer to Purchase is signed, the next step is to appoint a conveyancer β a specialised attorney who handles the legal transfer of property.
Who chooses the conveyancer?
β
In most sales, the seller nominates the conveyancer.
β
However, both parties can agree on a conveyancer they trust.
What the conveyancer does:
1οΈβ£ Drafts and prepares all transfer documents
2οΈβ£ Liaises with banks, the municipality, and the Deeds Office
3οΈβ£ Ensures all legal requirements are met
4οΈβ£ Protects your interests during the transaction
π‘ Tip: Only attorneys who are also qualified conveyancers can register property transfers in South Africa.
Stay tuned for Part 4 next Monday β weβll take you through the final step: Transfer & Registration.
