Did you know that Hannelie Meyer and De Wet Swart of our team are proud members of the Fiduciary Institute of Southern Africa? Today we are attending the Annual FISA Conference to develop our firm's knowledge and capabilities in this important field.

Today's conference has a strong focus on dealing with the estates of people suffering from mental illness and how to deal with that ethically.

In South Africa, we don't recognise what is internationally known as enduring powers of attorney. Once someone does not have mental capacity anymore, any powers given are not valid anymore. Steps are then needed to deal with the estate of such a person.
