As we mark Africa Day, we cannot ignore the targeted violence and fear unfolding on our streets.

South Africa’s strength was built on the solidarity of the continent, yet today, that bond is under attack. The current vigilantism is not a solution to our economic struggles but rather a direct violation of human rights.

We stand for the dignity of every person, regardless of their origin. As we practice true Ubuntu, this means protecting the vulnerable and choosing unity over division. It is time for our leaders to act and for our communities to reclaim compassion.

We had a great time at the 2026 Ohio University International Moot Court Competition hosted by Deneys! It was inspiring to watch law students successfully challenge themselves and refine their analytical skills in a court environment.

A heartfelt thank you to the judges of the moot court Sivuselele Manzini , Nikita Stanley, and Suvania Subroyen as well as Candice Pillay and Precious Masinga , and the programme directors and students from Ohio University who made this experience so meaningful, Larry Hayman and Haley Duschinski .

We appreciate such partnerships, the insightful dialogue, and the dedicated students who ensured the success of this programme.

Yesterday, 18 May 2026, ProBono.Org Johannesburg had the pleasure of hosting students from Ohio University. The session featured an insightful and interactive discussion led by Mr Enver Surty, former Minister of Justice and later Deputy Minister of Education.

Later that evening, we hosted a special screening of One Humanity, a film that gives voice to the history of the global anti-apartheid movement from those that were intimately involved.

A heartfelt thank you to AB Moosa and the Avalon Group ,CineCentre Killarney for making the screening possible.

ProBono.Org Durban was proud to attend the Family Day event hosted by FAMSA Pinetown under the theme “Families Are Stronger Together.”

The event brought together families, children, and various community stakeholders for a fun and informative day focused on strengthening families and creating awareness around important social issues.

As ProBono.Org, we engaged with the community about our free legal services, with a focus on the prevalent issue of domestic violence and education on housing and property rights.

Important discussions were also held around road safety, caring for the elderly, social support services, and substance abuse awareness, including the concerning rise of substance abuse affecting children at a very young age.

The children especially enjoyed the games and activities, making the day both educational and enjoyable for everyone involved.
