News just in, interest rate hiked by 50 basis points.

The SA Reserve Bank's monetary policy committee hiked interest rates by 50 basis points to 8.25%. This is in line with what many economists and the market expected.

The South African Reserve Bank has announced an increase in the repo rate.

[BREAKING NEWS] The South African Reserve Bank raises repo rate by 75 basis points. The prime lending rate is now up to 10.5%.

The Reserve Bank has increased the repo rate by 75 basis points today.

The president of the Reserve Bank, Lesetja Kganyago, says the repo rate now stands at 6.25%. The prime interest rate from banks now stands at 9.75%.

The repo rate was also raised by 75 basis points in July this year for the first time in 20 years.
