Litigation -
Is the term used to describe proceedings instituted between two opposing parties to enforce or defend a legal right. Litigation can be settled by way of settlement between the parties, but in most instances will be heard and decided by a Judge or Magistrate in a Court of Law.
Litigation includes any number of activities before, during and after the instituting of litigation proceedings to enforce or defend a legal right. In addition to the actual litigation, pre-litigation, negotiations and appeals may also be part of the litigation process.
