Candidate legal practitioner Christy Chitengu recently took part in a five-day course on Statelessness in Africa, delivered by UCT Law's Refugee Rights Unit and UNHCR. The training featured more than 50 practitioners from 12 countries across the region!

The submission deadline is 21 July 2023, and shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on 26 July 2023.

[In the news / ] An analysis by Intelwatch NPC argues that a new intelligence bill approved by South Africa's Cabinet fails to reform the security cluster meaningfully, and creates problematic new powers for South Africa's intelligence agencies.

The General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill, following the Zondo Commission, was a chance for SA's top executive - especially the president - to show they were serious about intelligence reform. Instead, it paves the way for State Capture 3.0.

This week marks five years since Power & Singh Inc., now Power & Associates, established itself as a public interest law firm.

In that time we have taken on dozens of public interest matters, and appeared in nearly every branch of the South African justice system, from magistrates’ courts all the way up to the Constitutional Court. We are proud of the growing team of young lawyers and candidate legal practitioners who have chosen to work with us.

This week also marks the sixth anniversary of our sister organisation ALT Advisory. We look forward to the year ahead!
