Big waves. Cold water. No limits!
Today at 10am, local endurance swimmer Peet Crowther and fellow athlete Chris Oldnall will attempt one of the toughest open water swims ever undertaken in South Africa, a DOUBLE crossing of False Bay.
Starting at Rooiels, the pair will swim approximately 33km to Millers Point… then turn around and swim the entire route back again.
That’s:
🏊 66km non-stop
🌊 Freezing water temperatures
💨 Powerful currents and wind exposure
⏱️ An estimated 25–30 hours in the ocean
This is the final chapter of the Trilogy Ocean Challenge in partnership with the South African Hall of Fame - raising funds to help 120 talented young boys receive world-class education, mentorship and coaching at Pretoria Boys High School.
Their previous achievements already made history:
• A 33km crossing of False Bay
• The first-ever 53km swim from Robben Island to Dassen Island, the longest recorded swim around the African continent
From all of us at Seeff Hermanus and Whale Coast, we wish them strength, resilience and safe seas for this extraordinary challenge. 💙🐋
