GOOD NEWS FOR ZEP &LEP HOLDERS:

WHO?
Lesotho & Zimbabwe
Exemption Permit Holders

WHY?
The Department of Home Affairs issued a new directive which automatically extends the Lesotho Exemption Permits (LEP) and Zimbabwean Exemption Permits (ZEP).

HOW?
LEPS:
Immigration Directive No 20 of 2025 extends the validity of all LEPs to 28 May 2027, granting an 18-month grace period beyond the previous expiry of 28 November 2025.
LEP holders will not face arrest or deportation for not holding a valid exemption certificate and may travel or apply for other visas during this time.

ZEPs:
Immigration Directive No 21 of 2025 also extends ZEP validity to 28 May 2027, with the same protection and flexibility.
This is a significant relief for many families and individuals while long-term policy discussions are underway.

HOWEVER:
We encourage individuals that can change to more sustainable routes to do so, because if SA is the country you wish to settle in and build, you need a visa category that can lead to permanent residency.
