1. GBV is not only physical emotional neglect is also violence.

My experiences over the years have shown me that violence often comes disguised as silence, withholding affection, lack of support, and the expectation that a woman must “cope” no matter what she is suffering. Women have lived the reality that emotional and psychological harm can be just as damaging as a blow.

2. The burden placed on women is systemic, not personal.

Women have to keep functioning ,as a mother, business owner, worker, caregiver even when her own body and heart are exhausted. That double standard is a form of structural gendered violence: women are expected to absorb everything quietly.

3. GBV thrives in environments where women’s pain is minimised.

Women have experienced their pain being dismissed, their emotional needs overlooked, and their suffering rationalised. These experiences likely deepen their belief that society often conditions women to believe they are “too emotional” or “demanding” for wanting basic respect and care.

4. Your view should value women’s dignity, voice, and her safety: in the home above all.

Because women have seen how a home can become a place of loneliness instead of comfort, women understand that GBV is not only about bruises — it is about power, control, and the erosion of a woman’s sense of self.

5. We must recognise the quiet forms of GBV that many women overlook.
• emotional abandonment
• financial pressure
• manipulation through guilt
• lack of emotional support in illness
These are often never spoken about, yet they break a woman’s spirit. Naturally the callous acts of physical violence can never be condoned not in any society. I ask myself everyday - when will a woman ever feel free !
