Bellville is moving - and the results are no longer theoretical.

At the recent GTP CEO Gala Dinner, hosted alongside Executive Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis , one message stood out:

Investment in Bellville is working.

As the Mayor noted, the City funds GTP - and that investment has delivered one of the best returns on investment in Cape Town over the past four years.

Bellville is not waiting to be noticed.

It already has the transport links, footfall, businesses, students, institutions and energy of a major metropolitan growth node.

Through GTP’s work in placemaking, urban management, activation and partnerships, that energy is being turned into visible progress.

The work is visible. The return is real. The opportunity is now.

Whether you are a business, investor, property owner, institution, civic partner or community stakeholder — reach out and be part of what comes next.

This week, The Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP) hosted its Annual CEO Gala Dinner alongside Executive Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis at Hazendal Wine Estate - bringing together business leaders, investors, civic stakeholders and strategic partners committed to shaping the future of Bellville and the Northern Suburbs.

More than a gala dinner, the evening created space for meaningful conversations around economic growth, investment-led placemaking, urban renewal and Bellville’s growing role within Cape Town’s broader economic future.

Guests heard from GTP CEO Warren Hewitt, Alderman James Vos Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth and Tourism and Executive Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis , while Robbie Brozin, co-founder of Nando’s, and Bea Swanepoel, CEO of Jozi_My_Jozi, led an insightful discussion on leadership, civic pride and building thriving cities through collaboration. Keith Anderson, Founder and CEO of EPR Waste Association of South Africa, also shared valuable insights on sustainability, waste management and building more resilient future-focused cities

The evening also marked the launch of Northern Collective — a female-led regional initiative spearheaded by GTP COO Nasmera Buckus (MBA), bringing together influential women leaders from across the Northern Suburbs.

Two major precinct-focused projects were also officially launched: the Lighting Up Elizabeth Park and the Bellville Skyline Project, which saw a number of corporates agreeing to fund the projects on the evening itself.

A sincere thank you to our headline sponsor EPR Waste Association of South Africa, together with all sponsors and partners who helped make the evening possible:
▪️ City of Cape Town
▪️ Old Mutual South Africa
▪️ HeadByte
▪️ Metropolitan
▪️ WCB Group
▪️ TUHF
▪️ Tsebo Solutions Group

Real change happens when leadership, business and community move in the same direction.

If you’d like to partner or collaborate, we’d love to connect.

♻️ Kids are out here proving that small actions really do make a big difference 💚

Through Trash4Treats, learners have been collecting recyclables, cleaning up their communities, and helping their schools at the same time 🙌

Big shoutout to our winning schools:

🥇The Valley Primary School - R15,000 towards school upgrades
🥈 Range Primary School — R10,000 towards school upgrades
🥉 Rouxville Primary — R5,000 towards school upgrades

What started with recycling has turned into real impact - for schools, communities, and the next generation learning how to care for the environment ♻️

A huge thank you to MetPac-SA, dot GOOD, National Lottery Authority and City of Cape Town for helping make it happen.

And this is only the beginning 👀
More schools are joining soon.

A few weeks ago, many of these participants from previously disadvantaged communities had never repaired an appliance before.

Today, they’re walking away with new technical skills, hands-on experience, and certificates recognising all the hard work they’ve put in. 👏♻️

Together with TCB Repair, participants recently completed appliance repair training focused on practical learning, repair and reuse, and creating greater opportunity through skills development.

At a time when unemployment remains such a major challenge, seeing people gain practical skills and confidence in themselves is incredibly meaningful.

We’re so proud of this group. 💙 Taking Care of Business

⚠️ Post-storm, GTP’s Infrastructure Team has been hard at work identifying sections of Bellville that were badly affected, while continuing their daily work to repair infrastructure, attend to damage, and address affected public spaces.

Teams remain active across the precinct as recovery efforts continue following the recent weather conditions.

Thank you to all frontline workers and emergency teams working across the city during this time.

🌟 LEVEL UP SUCCESS STORY | Koekiecup Creative Community Hub

When Nuraan Samaai joined the GTP Level Up Programme, she was already building something meaningful through Koekiecup — a creative community space centred around creativity, collaboration, and connection.

Like many entrepreneurs, one of the biggest challenges was balancing day-to-day operations while trying to build something sustainable for the long term. Through the programme, Nuraan was able to rethink parts of her business model, strengthen her approach to growth, and connect with fellow entrepreneurs navigating similar journeys.

Today, Koekiecup continues to evolve into a growing platform supporting workshops, creatives, local makers, and community-driven entrepreneurship.

We were also proud to have Nuraan as one of our exhibitors at the Bellville Business Expo, showcasing her business alongside a growing network of entrepreneurs helping shape Bellville’s local economy. 👏

This is exactly what the GTP Level Up Programme is about — creating opportunities, supporting local entrepreneurs, and helping businesses grow long after the programme ends.

👀 Keep an eye out — details for the 4th Annual Bellville Business Expo will be launching soon.
