PREMIER DUBE-NCUBE TO LEAD WORLD AIDS DAY COMMEMORATIVE EVENT IN ETHEKWINI METRO WHICH HAS HIGH HIV INFECTIONS

The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Nomusa Dube-Ncube will lead the World AIDS Day Commemoration programme on Sunday, 04 December 2022 at the JL Dube Stadium in Inanda under the eThekwini Municipality.

The Premier will reflect on the challenges posed by the “double pandemic” in the form of HIV, AIDS and TB; and COVID-19 which has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health.

The province of KwaZulu-Natal has a large HIV/AIDS, TB and Sexually Transmitted Infections burden with the eThekwini Municipality being one of the cities with high HIV infections.

However, government working together with civil society organisations and the private sector has made significant strides to turn the tide against HIV, AIDS, and TB while waging the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.

This year’s World AIDS Day is being commemorated under the theme: “ *Equalize and Integrate to End AIDS* ”.

Premier Dube-Ncube will be joined by eThekwini Municipality Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda, Members of the Provincial Legislature, Councillors and Traditional Leadership during the World AIDS Day commemorative event.
