Get to know us: Ronèl Brooks (Smit)

Ronèl obtained her LLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch in 2008. After completing her articles at Falck Inc in Stellenbosch she located to Gauteng. She joined Anele in opening Brooks Wepener Attorneys in 2012 and proceeded to obtained her LLM in Family and Child Law.
She resides outside Kempton Park with her husband and two young boys who keep her very busy. She enjoys supporting them next to the sportsfield and is a huge tennis and cricket fan.

Ronèl's priority always remains any minor children involved in her matters and she believes that mediation is always first price as opposed to litigation.

BREAKING: The North Gauteng High Court has dismissed the Fair-Trade Independent To***co Association (FITA)'s application to have the cigarette ban in South Africa overturned. The court held that ci******es and to***co products are not "essential goods" as per the regulations and that the ban is objectively rational, saying "having had regard to the Minister’s submissions, we are satisfied that in arriving at the decision to impose the ban, the Minister considered all of the relevant medical literature — even evidence that may have been at odds with the view linking high COVID-19 virus progression amongst smokers when compared with non-smokers. This fortifies our view that the objectivity requirement has been fulfilled."
