CAREER OPPORTUNITY
SENIOR LITIGATION & LABOUR ATTORNEY
Lovius Block Attorneys is seeking to appoint an experienced and driven Senior Litigation & Labour Attorney to join our team in Bloemfontein.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage matters independently, provide high-quality legal advice and representation, and maintain strong client relationships.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate must have:
* A minimum of 3 years’ post-admission experience;
* Extensive knowledge and practical experience in general civil litigation, including matters in the High Court and Magistrate’s Courts;
* Extensive knowledge and practical experience in Labour Law;
* Proven experience appearing in the CCMA and Bargaining Councils;
* Proven experience conducting reviews and applications in the Labour Court;
* Right of Appearance in the High Court;
* Be fluent in both English and Afrikaans, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages;
* The ability to manage a litigation and labour law caseload independently, from instruction through to finalisation;
* Strong drafting, analytical, advocacy and negotiation skills;
* Knowledge and experience with AJS accounting software will be advantageous; and
* An established client base and demonstrated business-development ability will be highly advantageous.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Managing a diverse portfolio of civil and labour matters;
* Drafting pleadings, notices, applications, affidavits, legal opinions and other legal documentation;
* Conducting consultations and providing strategic legal advice to clients;
* Appearing in the High Court, Magistrate’s Courts, CCMA, Bargaining Councils and Labour Court;
* Managing matters effectively and ensuring compliance with applicable court and procedural requirements;
* Developing and maintaining strong client relationships; and
* Contributing to the continued growth and development of the firm.

We are looking for a competent, commercially minded and self-motivated attorney who is able to work independently, takes pride in delivering excellent client service, and has a strong interest in both litigation and labour law.
An established client base and the ability to develop new business will be viewed favourably.
