Job description:
To provide specialized HR/IR consulting services to our clients across a range of industries
· Advising on BCEA and LRA queries
· Regularly follow up on outstanding issues as necessary
· Implementing disciplinary processes
· Developing and adapting HR contracts and policies
· Compiling job descriptions and performance agreements
· File management and administrative support
· Drafting of charges and chairing of internal disciplinary hearings
· Well-versed and up to date on the newest relevant Case Law
· Proficient in Office, fast and accurate typing skills
HR Functions
Imperative experience required:
· Employment Equity Management
· WSP
· SETA Management
· Skills development
· Employee Wellness Programme
· Occupational health and safety -
Liaison with stakeholders and referrals to be done.
Performance Management
· Conducting performance appraisals and management of performance management processes
· Conducting incapacity inquiries
· Advising clients of risk
Recruitment
· Conducting full recruitment function in conjunction with clients
Disciplinary and Incapacity Inquiries
· Chairing disciplinary inquiries and ensuring speedy turnaround time of reports (48 hours max)
· Ensuring that notice of inquiry was served
· Perusal and presentation of evidence presented
· Recordkeeping of inquiries (note making and recording) and uploading onto database
· Follow-up with client after hearing
· Risk analysis
· Research
Customer Support
· Ensuring responses to client WhatsApp and returning calls and emails before close of business of the same day
Section 189 Retrenchments
· Obtain information from clients.
· Compile notices / invitations to consult
· Facilitating retrenchment discussions
· Compiling minutes of meetings
· Drafting retrenchment agreements
MSA’S
· Negotiation with employer and employee
· Inclusion of ex gratia amount and advising clients of jurisdictional issues at CCMA
· Ensuring MSA provides for all requirements such as confidentiality etc.
· Advising clients of risk.
Legal Drafting
· Compiling contracts of employment (industry specific)
· Drafting employee policies and procedures
· Drafting correspondence
· Drafting legal agreements
· Any ad hoc legal drafting required
Representation At CCMA/Bargaining Councils
· Attend to conciliations and arbitrations
· Representation of members
· Liaison with CCMA and case managers
· Objections to arbitrations
· In laminae arguments
· Preparation for arbitrations, compiling bundles of evidence
· Risk reports to clients
· Obtain mandate from client prior to settlement
· Liaison with Unions
Union Negotiations
· Wage negations
· Correspondence to unions
· Section 21 verifications
· Compiling and revising recognition agreements
· Compiling picketing rules
· Strike management
Qualifications & Experience:
A diploma Human Resources or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in an HR/IR role.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites within the Free State area.
Full professional proficiency in English and Afrikaans (additional languages are beneficial).
Demonstrable knowledge of Labour Law processes and terminology.
High attention to detail and strong administrative skills.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively and build trust with clients at all levels.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team.

We are a boutique labour consultancy in Cape Town seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Consultant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be a specialist in Employment Equity (EE) and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE), providing expert HR and Industrial Relations (IR) consulting services to our diverse portfolio of clients. This role requires a professional who embodies the personalized, high-touch service that defines a boutique consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a specialist in Employment Equity (EE) and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE), providing strategic advice and hands-on implementation support to clients.

Provide expert, tailored advice to clients on all aspects of HR management, policies, and employee relations.

Advise on matters related to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA) and Labour Relations Act (LRA).

Assist with the implementation of disciplinary processes, including drafting charges and chairing internal disciplinary hearings.

Develop and adapt HR contracts, policies, and procedures to meet specific client needs and legal requirements.

Manage key HR functions such as Skills Development (WSP/SETA) and Performance Management.

Conduct occupational health and safety liaison and referrals.

Provide comprehensive administrative support, including file management and document compilation (e.g., job descriptions, performance agreements).

Maintain a current understanding of relevant Labour Law and case law to provide up-to-date and practical solutions.

Liaise with stakeholders and provide professional, relationship-driven support to clients.

Qualifications & Experience:

A degree in Human Resources or a related field.

3-5 years of post-tertiary qualification experience in an HR/IR role, with a strong focus on EE and B-BBEE.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites within the Cape Town area.

Full professional proficiency in English and Afrikaans (additional languages are beneficial).

Demonstrable knowledge of Labour Law processes and terminology.

High attention to detail and strong administrative skills.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively and build trust with clients at all levels.
