REFLECT WITH ME ON THE GOSPEL MESSAGE OF TODAY!
THEME: A PRAYER FROM THE HEART

DATE: 18 Jun 2026

Dear beloved brothers and sisters, Jesus said to his disciples: "In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. This is how you are to pray: 'Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name..." Matthew 6:7-9

Jesus reminds us that prayer is not about impressing God with long speeches or perfect sentences. Prayer is about coming to Him honestly. Sometimes we may feel pressured to say the "right" things, especially when we compare ourselves to others. Yet God already knows what is in our hearts before we even speak.

There are days when we do not know what to pray for. We may feel tired, distracted, hurt, or uncertain about life. Even then, God listens. A simple "Lord, help me" can carry more meaning than many repeated words spoken without sincerity.

The prayer Jesus taught begins with "Our Father." That alone changes everything. We are not speaking to a distant ruler who needs convincing. We are speaking to a Father who already loves us and cares for us.

Prayer is not about performance. It is about relationship. It is about turning back to God again and again, even with a weary heart.

Do we speak to God honestly, or do we sometimes hide behind routine words without opening our hearts to Him?

Lord, teach us to pray with sincerity and trust. Help us to remember that You already know our struggles, fears, and hopes. Draw us closer to You each day, not through perfect words, but through honest hearts that seek You. Amen.

Wishing you all a peaceful day ahead!

TEARS BEHIND THE WEDDING RING

Part 2: The Children Begin to Suffer

The days that followed were even more difficult for Mrs. Ann. Every morning, she woke up before dawn, prepared her children for school, and rushed to her small business. She worked tirelessly, hoping to provide a better life for her family. But no matter how hard she worked, the burden seemed to grow heavier.
Mr. Kuchi had become increasingly irresponsible. Instead of seeking ways to improve the family's condition, he spent most of his time with friends. Whenever he returned home, he brought nothing but complaints, anger, and disappointment.
The children had started noticing the tension in the house.
Little Daniel, their eldest son, often sat quietly in a corner watching his parents. Though he was only ten years old, he carried worries that no child should bear.
One evening, while Ann was preparing a simple meal of rice and beans, Daniel approached her.

"Mummy," he asked softly, "why is Daddy always angry with you?"
Ann paused. The spoon in her hand trembled slightly.
She forced a smile and gently stroked his head.
"Your father is going through some difficulties, my son. Pray for him."
But deep inside, her heart was breaking.
The next day brought another painful incident.
The school principal called Ann and informed her that the children's school fees had remained unpaid for months.
Ann was shocked.
The money she had given Mr. Kuchi weeks earlier for the fees had disappeared.
That afternoon, she rushed home and confronted him.
"Kuchi, what happened to the money for the children's school fees?"
Mr. Kuchi glared at her. "Are you interrogating me?"
"I'm only asking because the children may be sent home."
Instead of answering, he stood up and walked away.
Ann felt helpless.

The following week, her greatest fear became reality.
Daniel and his younger sister, Grace, were sent home from school.
As they walked back home carrying their school bags, other children stared at them.
Daniel lowered his head in shame.
Grace could not stop crying.
When they arrived home, Ann embraced them tightly.
That night, after the children had fallen asleep, she sat beside their beds.
She looked at their innocent faces and tears rolled down her cheeks.
"I will not allow my children to suffer because of this," she whispered.
The next morning, Ann made a difficult decision.
She sold the only gold necklace her late mother had left her.
The necklace was her most treasured possession.
It carried memories of love, sacrifice, and family.
Yet without hesitation, she sold it and paid the children's school fees.
When Daniel and Grace returned to school, they smiled once again.
But while the children celebrated, another storm was already gathering.
Unknown to Ann, Mr. Kuchi had secretly borrowed a large sum of money from dangerous lenders.
And very soon, those men would come knocking at their door.

Title: TEARS BEHIND THE WEDDING RING

Part one:

The Beginning of Silent Suffering
When Mrs. Ann stood before the altar years ago and exchanged vows with Mr. Kuchi, she believed she had found a man who would walk beside her through every season of life. She dreamed of a peaceful home filled with laughter, understanding, and the joyful cries of children.

The first few months of their marriage seemed normal. Friends admired them, neighbors envied their union, and their families celebrated what appeared to be a perfect match.
But behind the smiles was a man whose true character was slowly revealing itself.
Mr. Kuchi was a proud and stubborn man. He disliked advice and believed that everyone around him existed to serve his desires. He spent most of his earnings on unnecessary pleasures while neglecting the needs of his home. Whenever Ann gently suggested a better way to manage their finances, he responded with anger.

"Do not tell me how to run my life," he would shout.
Ann would remain silent, swallowing her tears.

As time passed, the situation became worse. Bills remained unpaid. The kitchen often lacked food. Yet Mr. Kuchi continued spending carelessly with his friends.

Determined to save her family from embarrassment, Ann started a small business. She woke before sunrise every day, worked tirelessly, and used her earnings to pay rent, buy food, and meet household needs.
Instead of appreciating her sacrifice, Mr. Kuchi became even more hostile.
"People will think I cannot provide for my family because of what you are doing," he complained.

Ann was shocked. She had expected gratitude, not criticism.
One rainy evening, after returning home from a long day of work, Ann found her children hungry. The little money she had left had been taken by Mr. Kuchi without her permission.

The children looked at her with tears in their eyes.
"Mummy, we're hungry."
Those words pierced her heart like a knife.
She hurried to a neighbor's house and borrowed food just to feed them that night. After putting the children to bed, she sat alone in the darkness of the living room.

The rain poured heavily outside.
For the first time since her marriage, Ann wondered whether love alone was enough to keep a family together.
Little did she know that this was only the beginning of a much greater storm.

REFLECT WITH ME ON THE THEME: SHARING IN ETERNAL GLORY

"I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine, and I have been glorified in them." John 17:9-10

There is something personal in this moment. Jesus is not speaking in general terms. He is not addressing a crowd. He is praying for specific people. Those given to Him. Those He knows.

That includes us.

It is easy to feel like just another person trying to get through the day. Another face in the crowd. Another voice that may not be heard. Yet here, Jesus shows a different reality. He speaks of belonging. Not in a distant way, but as something shared between Him and the Father.

"Everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine."

We are part of that relationship. Not because we earned it, but because we were given. Chosen. Received.

And He says He is glorified in them.

That line can feel unexpected. We usually think we fall short. We see our mistakes, our distractions, the times we could have done better. But Jesus sees something more. He sees who we are becoming when we stay with Him.
Even in our imperfect state, there is something in us that reflects Him.
That is worth holding on to.

Where have we been treating ourselves as unnoticed, when in truth we are already known and held by God?

Lord, thank You for knowing me personally and not losing sight of me in the crowd. Help me to live in the truth that I belong to You. Even when I feel small or uncertain, remind me that I am part of something greater. Let my life reflect You in simple ways each day. Amen.

A DECADE BEYOND TIME, YET EVER PRESENT

Ten years have passed since you departed from the visible world, yet time has not diminished your presence in memory. Your life reminds us that existence is not measured only by years lived, but by the imprint left on hearts and minds. Though death separates the body, it cannot erase meaning, love, or influence. You remain part of our reflections. May your soul continue to find peace in the eternal rest of the Lord, dear elder brother.

The kind of politics practiced in this country has greatly diminished the value placed on human life. It is heartbreaking to imagine the suffering even innocent babies are forced to endure. 😢💔

Yet, faith encourages us to remain strong in times of hardship and persecution. As written in the The Bible:

“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10).

This reminds us that even amid injustice and pain, hope remains alive, and God sees every struggle. Stay steadfast, for suffering does not have the final word; faith and righteousness will ultimately prevail. 🙏
