Vietnam Grants 45-Day Visa Exemption to 12 Countries from August 15, 2025
From August 15, 2025, Vietnam will offer a 45-day visa exemption to citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland. The policy, under the Tourism Development Stimulus Program, will run until August 14, 2028.
Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP stipulates that eligible travelers can enter Vietnam for tourism purposes without a visa, regardless of passport type, provided they meet entry requirements.
On the same day, the Government issued Decree No. 221/2025/NĐ-CP introducing temporary visa exemptions for select foreigners, including senior political guests, top scholars, scientists, investors, business leaders, and influential cultural or sports figures. The move aims to attract high-quality talent, investors, and experts in key industries such as semiconductors and digital technology, enhancing Vietnam’s global competitiveness.
