Proposing international visitors to Vietnam without testing
The Tourism Advisory Council submits to the Government a proposal to remove the requirement for testing travelers before and after arriving in Vietnam.
On March 9, Mr. Luong Hoai Nam, a member of the Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), said that the proposal submitted to the Government was based on the principle of non-discrimination between international and Vietnamese tourists. All visitors should enjoy the same tourist activities. In fact, many countries have adopted a policy of not requiring nCoV testing for people who have received 2 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The TAB also has three other recommendations. Firstly, it is necessary to clarify a content in the option "the certificate of vaccination is valid for less than 6 months from the last injection". Most certificates of Covid-19 vaccination should be accepted. Second, visitors under 12 should be treated like parents. Specifically, if the parents have a valid certificate of Covid-19 vaccination, the accompanying children are allowed to enter the country and do not need to be tested or have an injection certificate. Third, visitors after entering the country who are positive for nCoV only need to be isolated at a hotel or residence until they have a negative result, as is the case with domestic visitors.
"If Vietnam opens its doors with regulations to stay at the property for 72 hours and have to be tested every day, there will be no guests. We have opened the door, we need to follow world practice and need to be competitive. Strict regulations. Close contact with international visitors is a mistake that makes many other destinations in the world less attractive, which Vietnam should avoid," he emphasized.
Mr. Nam also expressed concern when there are only a few days left until the tourist opening milestone (March 15). He said that if the policies are not clear and there are many conditions, airlines and tourism businesses do not dare to invest money and efforts to promote to the markets.
"After Covid-19, the guest markets are in turmoil, especially Russia's military campaign in Ukraine makes the situation even more unpredictable. However, TAB's view is that once the countries in the region have opened their doors, Vietnam will. should also open with simple conditions to attract visitors," he said.
On the same day, the Government Office sent the above letter to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in charge of research and processing.
The Ministry of Health is also proposing that people entering the country do not need a confirmation that they have been vaccinated against Covid-19 or used to be F0 to recover from the disease.
