I want to give a shout out to Kids Voice of Indiana and Pastor David Greene of Purpose of Life Ministries for an amazing day learning about Mental Health First Aid. Seven of us are now certified to provide Mental Health First Aid, and I’m excited to put that certification to use in my practice and my personal life.
One key thing I learned in this class: 988 is a lot more than a su***de hotline. 988 is the number to dial for help with a person exhibiting substance abuse and other mental health challenges. Unless the problem has escalated to a safety issue, you can call 988 instead of 911 for free assistance from a trained professional.
