Downsizing sounds dreamy… until you actually do it 👀
Here’s what nobody really prepares you for 👇
I work with a lot of clients who are ready to sell the big family home and simplify—and I love helping them through that transition. But before we start, I always have this conversation because a few things tend to catch people off guard.
01 – The emotional side is often harder than the logistics
You can hire movers, but you can’t hire someone to decide which memories to keep. Give yourself grace during this process.
02 – You probably have more stuff than you realize
Most people underestimate how much they've accumulated over the years. Start early with closets, storage rooms, and forgotten corners. Bonus: decluttering helps your home show better, too.
03 – The numbers may work out better than you expect
A smaller home often means lower monthly expenses and more financial flexibility. Be sure to review the numbers with your agent and financial advisor.
04 – Location starts to look different
When school districts are no longer the priority, new neighborhoods suddenly become options. Many of my clients end up discovering communities they absolutely love.
05 – You don’t have to give up what matters most
A smaller home doesn’t mean a smaller life. For many people, it means more freedom, less maintenance, and more time to enjoy the things they love.
If downsizing has been on your mind, let’s talk about what that could look like for you.
