Adam Conley, Esq. I Know How They’ll Come at You — And I’m Ready. Who I Help and How I Help Them? Why I Do This Work? It was a clear case of mistaken identity. Why Hire Me?

If you’ve been charged with a crime in York County or nearby, you may feel overwhelmed by the legal system. I assist individuals, from first-time offenders to those with prior records, in navigating this process confidently. Whether facing accusations of DUI, drug possession, assault, theft, or serious felonies, I offer clear guidance, strong advocacy, and a commitment to your defense. Before I be

came a criminal defense attorney, I served as a prosecutor right here in York County. I handled hundreds of cases — everything from misdemeanors to serious felony charges. Along the way, three cases in particular reshaped how I saw the justice system:

One involved a woman named “Samantha” who was charged with retail theft. She was adamant she hadn’t taken anything — and the surveillance footage backed her up. The charges were ultimately dropped, but I couldn’t stop thinking: what if I hadn’t looked closely? What if she didn’t have a lawyer? That moment stuck with me, not because I did the right thing, but because it reminded me how easily the system can get it wrong. Another case involved a man I’ll call “Malik.” His record wasn’t clean, and the charges were serious — but this time, he wanted to take responsibility and move forward. He didn’t want to go to jail, and after speaking with the victim, I was able to craft a resolution that held him accountable but also gave him a real chance to rebuild. That case made me realize that meaningful outcomes don’t always come from a jail cell — and that fairness often requires flexibility. Then there was “Dan,” who went to trial on charges of possessing crack co***ne with intent to distribute. During trial, the defense attorney asked the detective to open the suspected drugs, which had never been tested. It turned out to be rain ponchos. Watching that unfold in a courtroom made something click: if no one questions the evidence, the system keeps moving forward — even if the foundation is flawed. Those cases made it clear that justice isn’t automatic. It has to be fought for by someone who knows the system and isn’t afraid to push back. That’s why I made the shift to criminal defense. Today, I stand beside those who are facing the full weight of the Commonwealth, and I do everything in my power to make sure they’re heard, protected, and treated fairly. Insider Perspective: As a former prosecutor, I anticipate how the Commonwealth will approach your case, and I prepare accordingly. Local Advantage: I’ve worked in these very courtrooms. I know the judges, the procedures, and how to get results in York County. Focused Representation: I limit my caseload to ensure every client gets the time, attention, and strategic planning they deserve. Contact Me

Late-night drive down Route 30… flashing lights in the mirror… a sobriety test under streetlights. 🚔

Welcome to DUI enforcement in York County—where you can be charged even under the legal limit, and where "field sobriety" sometimes looks more like a sidewalk circus.

📚 Case Law Thursday: 🚪👀 When a "Protective Sweep" Sweeps Too Far

🚨 Commonwealth v. Hightower (York County) just dropped a legal reality check on overzealous home searches.
https://yorkcriminaldefence.com/commonwealth-v-hightower-when-a-protective-sweep-crosses-the-line/

👮 Police knocked to arrest Dominique Hightower. A door tug and some movement upstairs led them to sweep the home—no warrant. What they “saw” next? Some foil bags, green specks, and cash in a conveniently cracked drawer.

📷 But crime scene photos told a different story. So did the Pennsylvania Superior Court.

The Ruling?
✔️ Sweep = Legal.
❌ Digging for evidence = Not.
📦 “Plain view” only counts if the stuff is obviously illegal—and visible without opening drawers.

Everything that followed—the house warrant, the car search, the gun, the charges? 🍎 Fruit of the poisonous tree.

🔑 Takeaway:
Even if police find serious evidence, it’s worthless if they got it the wrong way. Your Fourth Amendment rights actually matter.

🌭 Fireworks, Cookouts... and Court Dates? 🚔

In York County, the Fourth of July should end with sparklers—not squad cars. But a heated moment in Red Lion, a burned burger, or too many beers can change that fast. If your holiday weekend ended in handcuffs for a domestic violence arrest, you’re not alone—and you’re not out of options.

Here’s what you really need to know:

⚖️ Police don’t need permission to arrest you—they need evidence.
👨⚖️ You’ll likely face a no-contact order, even if the other person says “it’s fine.”
🎯 Your preliminary hearing isn’t just formality—it’s your first chance to fight back.

Biggest mistake? Thinking it'll “just go away.” Spoiler: it won’t.

👉 If you’ve been charged with a domestic-related offense in York County, now’s the time to lawyer up. As a former York County prosecutor, I know both sides of the courtroom—and how to protect your future.

You don’t have to consent to every test.
Especially when it comes to field sobriety or roadside breath tests.

🧠 Staying calm and quiet can protect your rights more than you realize.

Hot dogs. Fireworks. Freedom.
Let’s keep it that way—in York.

This Independence Day, enjoy your rights—don’t risk them.

🚓 DUI checkpoints can turn celebrations into courtroom visits.
🎇 Fireworks violations? Yes, they’re real charges in Pennsylvania.
🍻 Public intoxication? Not exactly the freedom our Founders had in mind.

📞 "I want my attorney."
Say it. Save it. Use it.
It’s the most powerful sentence you can speak in a police encounter—and the one phrase that can stop questioning cold.

👀 We all have that one friend…
The one who says, “I know I probably shouldn’t say this, but…”
And then proceeds to say everything.

📢 Here’s the legal version:
🎤 “I’m invoking my right to remain silent.”
Then stop. Like, actually stop talking.

🧠 York County Law Enforcement aren’t there to chat. They’re building cases.
