December 5: Slow-Moving Traffic Pattern on I-83 between Exits 16 and 18
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that on Thursday, December 5, from 10:30 AM to noon, its contractor will conduct a slow-rolling moving pattern for inspection of recent road work in both directions of Interstate 83 between Exits 16 and 18 in York County.
PennDOT advises motorists that during working hours they may encounter slowing or stopped traffic in either direction through the work zone. This section of I-83 averages 52,700 vehicles traveled daily. To avoid delays, travelers should allow for additional time in their plans or seek an alternate route.
The $13,617,662 contract was awarded to J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, and includes full-width milling of the top layer of asphalt and resurfacing with a 4.5-inch Superpave asphalt overlay, roadway base repair, accelerated concrete patching, bridge deck patching, bridge joint replacement, and installation of new guiderail, signs and pavement markings. Work under this construction contract is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019.
