A streamlined bankruptcy provision for smalll business exisits in the federal bankruptcy code. To benefit from that statute a small business must be currently functioning and cannot be permanently closed.

New York small businesses, who have experienced economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can benefit from the New York State Small Business Recovery Grant Program.

Awards go from $5,000 to $50,000. Businesses must be currently viable (including those shuttered due to COVID restrictions) and have been in operation on or before March 1, 2019 as of the date of the application. Applicants are required to show loss of gross receipts due to the pandemic or compliance with COVID-19 health and safety protocols which resulted in business modifications, interruptions or closures.

Applicants must have 2019 or 2020 gross receipts of between $25,000 and $2,500,000 and demonstrate $1.00 or greater positive net profit in the 2019 tax year. Applicants must demonstrate a25% loss in annual gross receipts from 2019 to 2020; that the total business expenses on its 2020 business income return are greater than the grant amounts and not have benefitted from certain prior federal business grant assistance.

Most residential eviction protection ended in New York on January 15, 2022. However, no tenant may be evicted for nonpayment of rent owed during the period March 7, 2020 to January 15, 2022. Additionally, if you have a pending application under the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), eviction must be stayed until the final determination of eligibility.
