Did you know it’s a common myth that you have to leave someone one dollar in your will to disinherit them? Not only is this unnecessary—it can create more problems.
A clearer, stronger approach is to simply state your intent to disinherit without giving that person any assets. An even better option is using a trust. When properly drafted and implemented, a trust doesn’t require notifying the person you intend to exclude.
