Søren M. Rottman has practiced exclusively in the area of immigration and nationality law since 2002. He has successfully assisted hundreds of individuals from around the world on their applications for U.S. permanent residency and citizenship. He has also zealously represented immigrants in removal (deportation) proceedings before the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the federal courts. His litigation highlights include Perez-Gonzalez v. Ashcroft, 379 F.3d 783 (9th Cir. 2004) and Cuevas-Gaspar v. Gonzales, 430 F.3d 1013 (9th Cir. 2005). Born in Chicago and raised in New York and Argentina, Søren has also lived in China and traveled extensively throughout Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Western Europe. Søren is bilingual in English and Spanish and conversant in Mandarin Chinese, French, Italian and Portuguese. He graduated from Yale University with honors in International and Latin American Studies and received his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law. Prior to opening his own office, Søren worked for the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project for nine years, first as a staff attorney and then as the directing attorney of the Granger, WA office. Søren is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the State of Washington, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western District of Washington, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Yakima County Bar Association.
