⚖️ Cowardice on our roads carries massive legal consequences. Under O.C.G.A. § 40-6-270, any driver involved in an accident resulting in injury, death, or vehicular damage must immediately stop and remain at the scene. They are legally required to provide their name, address, and vehicle registration, and render reasonable assistance to anyone injured.
If a driver flees an accident scene where severe injuries are present, the charge automatically elevates from a traffic misdemeanor to a serious felony conviction.
Kyle’s Tip of the Day: If you are ever the victim of a hit-and-run driver in Cherokee County, do not chase after the fleeing vehicle. This puts you at extreme risk. Instead, pull safely to the shoulder, dial 911 immediately, and loudly repeat the vehicle's color, make, model, or license plate number into your phone's voice recorder or your active call so it's documented.
Koester Legal is fiercely dedicated to hunting down hit-and-run drivers and leveraging their criminal flight to maximize civil injury claims for victims.
