Recently a client of Callahan Law Group obtained a not guilty verdict after a jury trial for a first offense OUI (operating under the influence). After cross examining the Trooper and exposing the obvious deficiencies in the Commonwealth's case, we moved for a "Required Finding of Not Guilty" with the trial judge. The judge agreed and issued our client a not guilty verdict. The judge granted our motion, issuing the not guilty verdict because the case that the Commonwealth presented against our client was so weak that it could not permit a possible guilty finding by the jury.

If you or a loved one is faced with an OUI charge, it is vitally important to have an experienced OUI attorney review the charges before deciding how to proceed. Taking the plea deal offered on a first offense OUI charge is often an attractive option, but does have life long consequences. Make sure that you or you loved one has an attorney on the case who not only knows the law, but is not afraid to pursue the matter through a jury trial.

Are you a salary employee and believe you're not being fairly compensated? If so, you might be misclassified. If you're paid with a salary, both Massachusetts and Federal laws require that you not only hold certain positions with certain job duties and responsibilities, but that you're compensated at minimum rates.

If you are concerned that you are being unfairly compensated or have been incorrectly classified, contact us today for a complementary evaluation.

Do you own a small business? If so, is important to have an employee handbook.

Every business should have an employee handbook, wherein employees can locate policies, lists of prohibited and permitted behaviors, and other resources such as procedures to report discriminatory behaviors or harassment. Such a handbook will protect the business and provide structure to employees. A handbook also provides a mechanism for the business to obtain signed acknowledgement forms of certain policies that each employee, by law, must be advised of.

Callahan Law Group, LLC offers several reasonable packages, depending on the needs of the business, to accomplish its goals in the compilation of an employee handbook. Reach out today for a quote!
