Taxpayers with a history of filing and paying on time may now have an easier path to receive penalty relief.
This summer, the IRS’s new Automatic Exemption from Penalty or AEP will replace the long-standing First Time Abate administrative relief. AEP is designed to eliminate the need to contact the IRS to request relief and reduce burden for those with a timely compliance history. We're proud to announce that Josh Durham has been named Vice-Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association's Antitrust & Complex Business Disputes Section! The Section provides educational, networking, and professional development opportunities for its members, many of whom regularly practice in federal court and the North Carolina Business Court.

Josh's new role builds on years of service to the Section, where he has previously served as a council member, treasurer, and secretary. As Vice-Chair, he'll help organize the Section's annual CLE in Cary, set for February 11, 2027. The event is always a well-attended program, as it covers a range of topics central to Business Court practice, including the popular panel of sitting Business Court judges.
