Knuesel Law Firm will remain open for business during this very challenging time. While we are complying with CDC and Minnesota Department of Health guidelines by closing our walk-in lobby, as we always have been, we remain available 24 hours a day by telephone and email. We also offer video conferencing when available. Our strong commitment to be available for our clients whenever they need us continues on, even if that looks a little different right now. The Federal Government has recognized those that provide legal services as “essential services”, exempt from certain restrictions limiting the day-to-day operation of businesses. Yesterday, the Minnesota Bar Association concurred with that decision. We do as well. In times of crisis, the availability of legal services is critical. We are prepared to do our part.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic event, the courts in Minnesota have significantly reduced services. Some court hearings are being cancelled and postponed indefinitely. Even so, law enforcement continues to investigate and prosecute crimes. Now, more than ever, If you have been charged with a crime or are being investigated for a crime, it is important that you obtain aggressive legal representation as soon as possible. Even though many cases are being postponed, there are still important statutory timelines that continue to run. Inaction and/or failure to obtain representation will result in missed deadlines. Missed deadlines may well result in lost rights, including due process, or missed opportunities. Strong representation is even more important during times such as this. In many cases, we have been able to resolve cases without even having to return to court. In all cases we continue to ensure that our clients’ rights are protected.
