Morris James recently celebrated the career of Lewis Lazarus, now Retired Partner/Of Counsel within Morris James’ Corporate and Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Lewis retired effective January 1, 2026 after having started his Morris James career in 1985.

For more than 40 years, Lewis has been an important part of Morris James and Delaware’s legal community. Throughout his career, he advised clients on complex corporate governance and commercial litigation matters in the Delaware Court of Chancery, including high-stakes mergers, fiduciary duty disputes, stockholder actions, and conflict-of-interest transactions.

Lewis has served as lead counsel in significant Delaware corporate matters, advised special committees and boards in transformative transactions, and earned longstanding recognition from Chambers USA, Best Lawyers, and others for his practical judgment, clarity, and deep understanding of Delaware law.

He also dedicated significant time to professional and public service, including leadership roles with the Delaware Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission, the Delaware Supreme Court’s Board on Professional Responsibility, and the American Bar Association, as well as longstanding pro bono service through the Office of the Child Advocate of Delaware.

Beyond his legal practice, Lewis has remained actively involved in the community through organizations including Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware, Delaware Historical Society, the World Affairs Council of Delaware, and Read Aloud Delaware, along with many other civic and community efforts throughout the state.

Partner Vincent J. Cannizzaro III has been selected to serve on the Delaware State Bar Association's Corporation Law Council beginning July 1, 2026.

The Council plays an important role in recommending updates to the Delaware General Corporation Law and other business entity statutes, helping ensure Delaware remains the leading jurisdiction for businesses of all sizes.

Vince joins Partner Tyler O'Connell, who has served on the Council since 2022. Together, they will contribute to the ongoing development of the laws that help shape Delaware's corporate landscape.
