We’re excited to welcome J. Mike Mackay as Of Counsel to Horton & Mendez Injury Lawyers. 👏
With more than 30 years of North Carolina litigation experience, Mike brings a unique perspective to our workers’ compensation practice. He began his career in insurance defense before shifting his focus to representing injured workers, where he has spent more than two decades.
Mike has served as Managing Partner of a large workers’ compensation practice, Claims Director for the North Carolina Industrial Commission, a Board-Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law, and a Certified Mediator.
His experience includes serving as Claims Director for the North Carolina Industrial Commission, previously holding Board Certification in North Carolina Workers’ Compensation Law, and becoming a Certified Mediator through the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission.
That background gives Mike valuable insight into how workers’ compensation claims are evaluated and defended, and he uses that perspective to help injured workers navigate the process.
A North Carolina native and double Tar Heel, Mike earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and recently completed a bucket-list goal of visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums.
