A release from the governor's office said 18th Judicial District Division 10 Judge Bruce Brown died on Thursday.

I cannot express how sad I was to learn of the passing of Judge Bruce Brown yesterday. During my second year as a District Attorney, I was assigned to the Juvenile Department, where I practiced law in his courtroom. I will never forget how hard he tried to help the children that came into his courtroom. He had the best speeches and was one of those people that I consider “Salt of the Earth.” He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

We are going old school today. After YEARS of filing pleadings electronically, we are filing paper pleadings due to a security breach causing the state-wide shut down of the electronic filing system.

The Kansas Supreme Court issued Administrative Order 2023-CC-074 today confirming clerk offices in the appellate courts and all district courts—except the court in Johnson County—remain unable receive electronic filings at this time.

Such a nice surprise when you find out that a client has left a new review...
"Face it...it this day and age, divorce is prevalent. I highly recommend you find a work around. Given the fact that this is not always a answer......I strongly suggest you employ Monica . I found this process in its self....painless to accept with her as your attorney. I strongly suggest you get your paperwork together and if and when she asks for a document...you take two her straight away. She is in the middle of your case and NEEDS it..now. ....not when you get around to it.
You can not get better representation in my book. I would use her again. However....I'm not going to be in the position to be divorced again....ever. Cost between attorneys must be compatible......personal service is the only thing that makes one different from the other.......go with Monica.
Some have a happy ending and new beginning....let her start yours as she did mine."

New client review- “Monica was a wonderful attorney who has helped me the last two years go through a painful divorce after 40 years. Pandemic aside, at the same time I was trying to clean out and sale a house after 40 years and buy a new one. Monica was very valuable in assisting me with all paperwork and filings that needed to be done. She was highly professional, very no-nonsense and very, very efficient. She was very much on top of whatever needed to be done and very responsive to all of my questions and concerns. I would not have made it without her. I would highly recommend Monica! She was fantastic!”

Update: In addition to the five current family law judges, two additional judges have been selected to preside over family law cases in Sedgwick County. Based on the information that has been released, it appears that pending cases will remain assigned to the current judges, but some new cases are being assigned to Judges Leah Gagne and Elizabeth Henry.
