SCAM ALERT 🚨

We're aware of a fraudulent letter circulating via text claiming to be from MSP Headquarters and requesting money for “clearance,” “processing” or release of funds or debit cards.

These letters are NOT legitimate. The Michigan State Police will never request payment for police clearance, document processing or the release of financial assets.

Know the warning signs of scams:
• Requests for payment, especially in advance
• Poor grammar or unusual wording
• References to international banks or debit cards
• Urgent demands tied to “clearance” or release of funds

If you receive a letter like this:
• Do not send money
• Do not provide personal or banking information
• Report it to your local law enforcement agency
