10 years. I cannot believe it. Certainly, to God be all of the glory on this September 1, 2026 anniversary day.

After resigning from my job as deputy corporation counsel of Wayne County in Detroit on a Friday, I jumped in my little Audi with my two dogs in the backseat and drove back home to New York on the Sunday.

I didn’t have any plans. My mother welcomed me back home and I sat on the couch with my dogs asking myself “what in the world did I just do?” A week prior, I sat in cabinet meetings about important government business.

I then got off the couch and went to Prospect Park for a run. And then I kept running in the park until I decided to take on a small pro bono project involving a 9 year old boy from El Salvador. It was an asylum case.

While running, I also decided to start that nonprofit organization that was on my heart for years. So I got to work, and just kept working 12-15 hours each day until I found myself in Africa a few months later making connections to launch humanitarian projects.

When my client’s mom asked me to help her with her immigration case, my mother suggested that I start a solo practice.

I then scribbled some ideas on paper, wrote up a business plan at Grand Army Plaza Library in Brooklyn, rented two desks at WeWork in Dumbo…and got to work with my new part time assistant, Jennell.

This was the beginning. My goodness, God has been good to us. 🥹❤️
