We’re pleased to welcome Debra Mandl to Lachtman Cohen & Belowich LLP as Counsel.

Debra is an experienced commercial real estate attorney whose practice includes acquisitions, dispositions, financing and leasing transactions across a broad range of asset classes throughout the United States. She brings extensive experience representing sophisticated real estate owners and investors in complex transactions involving retail, industrial, office, multifamily and mixed-use properties.

“Debra brings tremendous experience across virtually every aspect of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions,” said David Lachtman, Co-Managing Partner and Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice. “Just as importantly, she understands the business considerations that drive those transactions and approaches her work with the practical judgment and responsiveness that our clients value. We are very fortunate to have her joining our team.”

Debra earned her B.A., cm laude, from Barnard College, her M.P.A. from Columbia University, and her J.D. from the University of Illinois Law School (formerly The John Marshall Law School).

“We are delighted to welcome Debra to the firm,” said Co-Managing Partners Brian Cohen and Brian Belowich. “As we continue to grow, we remain focused on adding talented, experienced attorneys who share our commitment to excellent client service and our collaborative culture. Debra is exactly that kind of lawyer, and we are excited about what she will bring to the firm and our clients.”

Debra is admitted to practice in New York and Illinois.

One of the most rewarding aspects of practicing law is seeing the next generation of lawyers begin their journey.

This week, our partner Brian Belowich had the opportunity to try a case in the United States Bankruptcy Court alongside a very special colleague - his daughter, Talia Belowich, a rising 2L at The George Washington University Law School, who assisted him throughout the trial.

For Brian, it was a memorable milestone in an accomplished litigation career. For Talia, it was an extraordinary opportunity to experience trial advocacy firsthand from counsel table.

We are proud of both Brian and Talia and grateful to see the values of hard work, professionalism, and mentorship reflected across generations.

It was our pleasure to welcome the college and law student interns from the Ninth Judicial District Summer Internship Program to our office for lunch, a panel discussion, and networking.

The discussion featured Partners David Lachtman, Brian Cohen, and Brian Belowich, and was moderated by Partner Hon. Joan B. Lefkowitz (Ret.), who led a thoughtful conversation about careers in the law, professional development, and the many paths available to aspiring attorneys.

We were also fortunate to have colleagues Jim Landau, Kerry Cunningham, and Joanna Sandolo join the discussion and share their experiences and perspectives with the students.

We were honored that Hon. Linda S. Jamieson joined us and offered her own words of encouragement and insight.

Most importantly, it was a pleasure to meet such an impressive group of future lawyers. Their thoughtful questions, enthusiasm, and engagement made for a terrific afternoon.

A special thank you to Lisa Wolland, who leads the Ninth Judicial District Summer Internship Program, for her dedication to creating meaningful opportunities for students to gain firsthand exposure to the courts, the legal profession, and public service.

We appreciate the opportunity to host this outstanding group and look forward to following their future success.

It was a special evening at the Westchester County Bar Association’s 126th Annual Gala.

The firm was proud to celebrate Partner Brian Cohen as he concluded his term as President of the WCBA after a year marked by significant initiatives focused on community, professionalism, attorney wellbeing, strategic planning, and collaboration across the bar.
